On Thursday afternoon, a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles was engulfed in a ferocious fire. With over 88 firemen on the scene, officials reported that the fire had escalated to a major emergency.

From the building, thick smoke billowed across the sky. The city block where the fire was located was bordered by Wall Street, Winston Street, East 4th Street, and South Los Angeles Street.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters were unable to access the fire’s location because of the enormous storage load. More resources are on their way. It is recommended that residents stay away from the area.

According to firemen, the fire was discovered in a row of commercial apartments in the 200 block of Winston Street just after 1 p.m.
