The company introduced a revenue-sharing plan with publishers last year after being accused of copying content from media publications.
A person close to Perplexity told CNBC that the company was in late-stage negotiations to fund $500 million at a $14 billion value in May. Earlier this year, Meta also approached the startup over a possible acquisition, but the two companies were unable to come to an agreement.
