Woman facing animal cruelty charges after video shows dog being struck with wooden plank

According to a news statement from the County of San Diego Communications Office, a lady from Spring Valley is being charged with animal cruelty after a video was submitted to authorities that seemed to show her hitting a Chihuahua with a wooden board, covering the dog with a container, and then kicking the creature.

On July 21, a concerned citizen took the video, and on August 10, the County Animal Services law enforcement officials found the perpetrator.

The veterinarian personnel at Animal Services is conducting a cruelty examination on the small puppy after it was forcibly seized.

According to the communications office, “medical personnel report that the dog is doing well and is recovering, even though it appears frightened.”

The County Animal Services is suggesting that the suspect be charged with animal cruelty, and all the evidence is being given to the District Attorney’s Office for examination.
