Gabler, Heddais one of the classic pieces of global drama, and I’m incredibly excited to present a bold new interpretation of it at the Globe,” Edelstein stated. This play, like all of Ibsen’s, is preoccupied with the ways that the decisions we make in the past influence our present. It’s a lot of joy since it brings me back together with two artists with whom I’ve worked extensively over the years.

Like Hamlet, Hedda rises or falls together with the title character. “[Holmes is] everything: femme fatale, tyrant, victim; tragic, scathing, and funny,” Edelstein remarked. Hedda Gabler can only be played by an actor with a great deal of inventiveness and charisma, so Globe viewers will be treated to something unique and exceptional in Katie’s bright and impactful performance. She is a really skilled artist, and we are fortunate to have her in San Diego. I’m excited to present what is sure to be a remarkable moment at The Old Globe.

Now in its 90th year, the Tony Award-winning Old Globe is a professional nonprofit regional theater that hosts 16 plays of new, classic, and contemporary works on its three stages in Balboa Park throughout the year. Soon, the entire 2026 season schedule will be revealed.
