What do you want in a park? Visitors asked for input on Rohr Park’s future

An update is needed at one of the South Bay’s largest and oldest parks.

The City of Chula Vista wants to know what people would like to add, renovate, remove, or reimagine in Bonita’s Rohr Park, which spans dozens of acres.

With NBC 7, you can watch San Diego News for free, anywhere, at any time.

The Chula Vista Live Steamers, an equestrian facility, a dog park, softball fields, playgrounds, dozens of picnic sites, and miles of pathways and walking routes may all be found in the park.

A portion of Rohr Park, which spans about 60 acres, is becoming outdated. Chula Vista is requesting that park visitors help shape Rohr Park by holding public gatherings and seminars to get feedback.

Frank Carson, director of parks and recreation, stated, “We’re trying to narrow down the long list of things that people want.”

They have a lot of land to think about, Carson added.

It is only when people begin walking it from end to end that they understand how large it is.

According to the director of parks and recreation, they already have over a thousand recommendations. Many of them concentrate on fixing the park’s walking trail and installing parking.

Another public event is being held by Chula Vista on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Rohr Park’s softball field 15.

According to Carson, the gathering would include kid-friendly activities.

By January, the Chula Vista City Council should have a plan to review, according to the Parks and Recreation Department.
