Ushakov stated that a summit is planned for next week, but he added that no date has been set yet because such events require time to plan. A little later, the potential location will be revealed,” he stated.

The White House stated that Trump is prepared to consider Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, attending the summit conference to discuss halting Russia’s three-year-old invasion of its neighbor, but he downplayed the prospect.

Trump and Putin would meet for the first time since the Republican president took office again this year. It would be a major turning point in the war, but since Russia and Ukraine still have very different demands, there is no guarantee that such a conference would result in an end to the combat.

Putin has been charged by Western officials on numerous occasions for procrastinating peace talks in order to give Russian soldiers more time to seize more Ukrainian territory. In the past, Putin has refused to make any compromises and will only agree to a deal that suits him.

Whether Trump’s Friday ultimatum for the Kremlin to halt the murder in Ukraine was still in effect remained unclear.
