Boy, 13, arrested in Chula Vista with 5 kilos of fentanyl: SDSO

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, a young adolescent was arrested on Friday in South Bay with a backpack full of drugs.

According to investigators, at around 10 a.m., deputies were “conducting surveillance” in Chula Vista near the intersection of 3rd and Orange Avenues when they noticed a guy carrying what looked to be a bulky backpack. They claimed that after the guy gave the youngster the rucksack, the boy entered a neighboring booze store.

Five kilograms of fentanyl were found in the backpack when the deputies performed a truancy check on the child, who was found to be thirteen years old.

The male, named by law enforcement as 19-year-old Martin Corona, who is on probation for felony drug offenses, was also taken into custody by investigators. He faces charges of conspiracy, child endangerment, and drug trafficking.

According to the SDSO, the youngster was given a citation and placed in his parents’ custody.
