Bystanders attempted to rescue and resuscitate a California lady who floundered off the shore of Hawaii, but she died, according to authorities.
Whittington Beach Park, a part of the Big Island notorious for its potentially hazardous water conditions, is where Stacy Coon, 59, of Oroville, Butte County, went swimming on Sunday afternoon.
Around 2:40 p.m., police arrived to assist a worried Coon who had screamed for assistance after being 40 yards off the shoreline, where she had been swimming at the time. The Hawaii Police Department reports that after Coon remained unconscious, multiple witnesses performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and dragged her to shore.

The deaths of Matthew Schoenecker and Valentino Creus, who lived in the Los Angeles region, and Matthew Anthony, who lived in New York, were found at Rattlesnake Falls in Northern California.
After being transported to Ka Hospital, which is roughly ten miles away, Coon was eventually declared dead. According to authorities, the incident is being looked into as a potential drowning, although her autopsy is still pending.
Local guides claim that although the park in the Ka u district’s town of N Lehu has warning signs along its shoreline, there isn’t a lifeguard on duty. According to several residents, swimming is safer in the park’s fish ponds and tide pools.
Growing up, [my family] would frequently visit Ka u, where I was born and reared. My father would never permit us to go swimming there. “Very risky,” a local posted on Facebook. I have seen 22 bodies being taken up from that [beach] from my patio, which overlooks the parking lot. People must follow the cautions.
Two days before to her death, Coon went to Ho Okena Beach Park, which is renowned for its calm seas and good snorkeling conditions, according to SFGATE. Whether she was going alone or not is unknown.
