Fear of immigration raids force the cancellation of several July festivities in Los Angeles

Due to continuous immigration enforcement raids, a number of Los Angeles County towns have canceled or rescheduled their Independence Day and July celebrations, claiming concerns for resident safety.

One of the first groups to post on Facebook on June 20th was the El Sereno Bicentennial Committee, which announced the cancelation of its 66th Independence Day Parade.

We support our community. The post states that our volunteers, spectators, and participants’ safety is our top priority at all times.

According to the committee, the procession usually consists of over 1,2000 participants and a large number of local organizations, schools, and entertainment groups.

According to the post, the committee’s decision was eventually influenced by the fact that numerous groups decided not to in this year’s march.

As ICE detentions continue, foot traffic has decreased in recent days at once-bustling immigrant hubs throughout Los Angeles. The raids have sparked alarm among his predominantly Latino parishioners, according to the Los Angeles Archbishop, who claimed he has been troubled.
