Grape-stomping season is juicily arriving at Golden State wineries

HAVING A VINE TIME: When the clock strikes midnight on July 31, California’s famed vineyards do not instantly turn golden, and the atmosphere does not feel like a harvest as August heats up. However, at a number of wineries in the Golden State, there’s a hint of something sparkling in the air, a seductive nudge that signals the arrival of fall. The grape stomp is another indication that fall is approaching, and it’s a little, well, squishier than the early autumn mood. Some wine-making destinations offer visitors the unique chance to try the ancient skill of de-shoeing and de-socking, although not all of them do. Additionally, several of our most well-known vineyards have a great way of celebrating the end of August and the start of September with that grape-flattening fun.

As summer draws to a close, TEMECULA VALLEY has always been a place to stomp, and on August 23, the Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards Grape Stomp 2025 will continue that tradition. A “delicious harvest buffet dinner” and some music to get you in the mood for crushing fruit are included in the $110 ticket price. Menghini Winery is the squish-it-up place in Julian. Admission for adults 21 and older includes a commemorative wine glass and tasting (kids are welcome at the event and there will be games). The event takes place on September 6. Additionally, October 18 is the date of the 2025 Paella & Grape Stomp atCASS Winery in Paso Robles. Is there something amazing in the works at your favorite winery? Ask your favorite wineries what squishy happenings they have in their stores.
