SAN DIEGO The Department of Immigration and Control of Aduanas detained a person while they waited to pick up their child at Linda Vista Primary School on the morning of the day, according to the San Diego Unified School District.

Several families, excluding the students, witnessed the incident that took place off campus at approximately 3:10 p.m. and informed Miriam Atlas, the principal of Linda Vista Primary School, in a letter sent to the parents.

The director stated that ICE cannot enter the campus without a court order and that the school administration has documented the relevant rules and procedures for its staff. Atlas is sent to the families’ assistance website of the SDUSD Division of Equity, which has a page devoted to sharing information on the district’s community’s rights.

Atlas also mentioned that there are resources on campus in case students or their families need assistance.

It is anticipated that the district superintendent would discuss the incident at a prensa conference on the fourth of the month.
