Trader Joe’s celebrated the grand opening of a new store earlier this month. The business is situated on the ground floor of a Sherman Oaks apartment complex.
However, the business is not new to the area. According to business personnel, the Trader Joe’s legend across the street has been serving consumers since 1973.
When the new branch, which is located on Riverside Drive off the 101 Freeway, was finished, the previous location was supposed to be closed. However, according to Matt Judd, manager of the new store, the company ultimately felt it could be enjoyable to have both open.
“We decided to keep them both because our business in this city has been so great,” he said. The city is deserving.
Company
On its website, the supermarket company Trader Joe’s announced that 21 new locations—including five in California—will open soon.
According to Judd, the new store is roughly 40% larger than the one across the street and offers a wider range of goods in addition to additional aisles for customers to peruse. Additionally, it provides parking in an underground garage, which is a significant lure for patrons who are hesitant to navigate the outdated, small parking lot.
Around midday on Friday, consumers were coming and going from the nearby stores.
Steve Emrick, a customer, stated, “This one is way better,” as he picked up a shopping cart and entered the new store. The parking was less crowded here than at the other store, which can get quite crowded.
Jacob Ruiz, another customer, stated that he was eager to see the new store for the first time even though he often visited the old one. He claimed that parking was easy, and he made a vow to never return to the other place as he was leaving.
He did not, however, believe that the growth was absolutely required for the region.
Not in this place. He suggested that they explore different neighborhoods.
Both shops were still packed. Judd stated that he anticipated a large number of patrons to remain faithful to the 1973 Trader Joe’s.
Company
As company grows rapidly, Trader Joe’s aims to maintain its quirky vibe.
According to Olga Virov, she has been a customer of the tiny store for almost 20 years. Although the new store’s parking possibilities impressed her, she didn’t see the need to transfer because she usually walks to the grocery store.
It’s more convenient this way. “I prefer to go to this one,” she remarked of the older venue, “because it’s cozy and easier for me to get to.” Unless I’m shopping in the mall, I don’t intend to attend that one.
Melany Figueroa-Garcia made a grocery run at the older Trader Joe’s. She described it as cozier and stated that she intends to continue buying there. She added that she finds the new location’s parking system unclear. However, the prospect of a larger venue did appeal to her.
“I walk over to the other location and get it if this location doesn’t have it,” she added.
Both locations are anticipated to stay open, Trader Joe’s stated in a statement to The Times.
According to the statement, we always aim to provide as many people as possible with delectable products at excellent prices. Opening new stores is the most effective method to achieve that.
