Pedestrian left seriously injured after being struck by Jeep in Midway area

According to investigators, a Jeep struck a 69-year-old man who was crossing a street in the Midway area on Sunday, sending him to the hospital with shattered bones.

The San Diego Police Department reports that the collision happened in the 3800 block of Camino del Rio West just after noon on Sunday due to high traffic. As the pedestrian moved into the #4 lane, the driver collided with him.

According to authorities, a 34-year-old man’s Jeep Wrangler struck the unnamed pedestrian.

The victim had an open fracture to his right leg and a fractured pelvis, which the police characterized as “serious.” He was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
