Authorities in Imperial Beach said Wednesday that a 40-year-old man was taken into custody after he stole an undisclosed sum of money from a client during a cash deposit and fled the bank in a getaway vehicle.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The suspect, who was later identified as Roberto Galvan, allegedly came up behind the victim, took her money, and then drove off from the Chase Bank, which is situated in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue.

While clinging to the vehicle as Galvan ran away, the victim suffered minor injuries while attempting to stop him, according to the agency. Her name wasn’t made public right away.
Galvan was reported seen in El Cajon by deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation. Sheriff’s officials claimed that the offender was apprehended without incident after being located with assistance from the El Cajon Police Department.

The victim subsequently identified Galvan, who was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery, according to officials.
It was unknown how much money had been stolen and whether it had been recovered.
