A North County woman was sexually assaulted earlier this month by a burglar who broke into her home.

The incident occurred in a residence on Grand Avenue in San Marcos on July 8, according to investigators with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. Deputies said the man, whom they later identified as 41-year-old Adolfo Brito, forced his way into the victim’s room and threatened her with a box cutter, demanding she take off several pieces of jewelry.

Brito next forced the woman to undress, according to deputies, then sexually assaulted her. Investigators said she fought him off until he ran away.

After identifying Brito, deputies, said, he was located on Tuesday and arrested in the 1300 block of Park Center Drive in Vista.
