When Betsaida Mercado has to travel downtown in New York, she chooses the same vehicle and the same subway line out of loyalty. However, according to Mercado, her life was transformed on Thursday, July 24, when she went to work.
Around 8:30 a.m. that morning, a kitty fell into her train vehicle.

The most popular ATikTok video, which received over 3 million views in less than a day, features a small tabby strolling around the platform’s yellow fence. The kitten courageously crosses the opening before the doors close and begins meowing as it runs around the car after the two trains arrive.

I had to blink twice. According to TODAY.com, Pocahontae Nehemiah, the Harlem resident who took the famous video, a random kitten was simply moving around as if it had paid the price. It went quickly as if it knew where it was going, but I was afraid it may get wounded or stuck.

According to Nehemiah, there was a mixture of commotion and anxiety in the metro car that morning.
A handful of us immediately froze, wondering, “Is this really happening?” while others were laughing and attempting to grab it. According to Nehemiah, it was a typical scene in New York City: Everyone was responding differently yet was still involved as a group.
Nehemiah was relieved when a passerby picked up the kitten because he had cat allergies and didn’t feel comfortable getting involved. Mercado then intervened to restrain it from the opposite end of the subway car.
I had a strong emotional attachment. Nehemiah claims that during the entire metro ride, his heart was in his throat.
The cat was ultimately picked up and held by Mercado, a native of Harlem, during the train voyage. She took the straggler without hesitation, despite the fact that she had never owned a cat before and that she was in route to work. (She claims that during their first veterinarian visit on July 26, her suspicions that the kitten was a girl were validated.)
“I simply seized her,” Mercado claims. My initial instinct was to check on her. “I’m going to be a cat mom,” was my second thought.

According to the 27-year-old, this is consistent with who she is. I have one thing to say: I’m not a spectator. I would never merely observe. She goes on to say that she might have fallen in between if the door had opened. I always wish to help others, whether they are kids or animals.
The cat meowing “so loudly” on the train is something Mercado remembers. She was obviously afraid. “Don’t worry, I was just trying to reassure her that I’m a good person,” she says.
In reality, she never scratched me or resisted me. She was a really gregarious cat, which I really appreciated. Or perhaps she simply picked me,” she says.
Mercado called her boyfriend after stepping off the train at the next stop. They had been ready for this.
“In fact, I asked my partner if he would be okay with my seeing a stray cat in a hypothetical situation. She adds, “And he was cool with it.”
In order for Mercado to complete her workday, her boyfriend picked her up at the station and took the cat home. When they got home, Mercado’s boyfriend bathed the kitten and showed it to their dog, who had become its new sibling.
Concerned followers were updated on the kitten’s condition by Mercado, who also requested assistance in naming it.
Metro, which is short for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the government organization in charge of running the subway system, was her choice for a boy, and Emmie for a girl.
Mercado is unsure if the kitten was dumped off or misplaced and how she managed to get on the subway. However, she pointed out that the feline was “extremely clean.” The New York MTA has been contacted by TODAY.com for comment.
Mercado said she is appreciative of the overwhelming support she has gotten from her new fan base.
She intends to keep the cat and is certain that she was destined to find it.
“I believe that train was a gift from God. She claims, “He put me on that schedule so I would be the one.” “He sent me there to locate the child I would have.” She appeared to be completely lost. She located her mother.
